Celebrating Carers Week 2011
14 October 2011
Carers Week 2011, from October 16-22, aims to support, recognise and celebrate the contribution Australia’s carers make to the wider community.
As part of the week, IRT Moruya received a Carers Week grant and is hosting a special morning tea on Thursday, October 20.
The morning tea is for residents, Wellness clients and In-Home Care clients and their carers.
As part of the morning tea the Eurobodalla Antique Care Club is putting on a car display.
IRT Area Manager – Eurobodalla Helen Spence said the morning tea was an opportunity for the IRT Moruya Community to celebrate the enormous contribution carers make.
“The work carers do tirelessly, every day, deserves recognition and this morning tea is a small way of saying thanks,” Helen said.
There are approximately 2.6 million carers in Australia, with around 850,000 carers in NSW (Australian Bureau of Statistics, 2010).
This year’s Carers Week theme is ‘Anyone Anytime’, which acknowledges that anyone at anytime can become a carer.
