IRT celebrates employees’ academic achievements
IRT will recognise 95 employees who have attained tertiary qualifications at its annual graduation ceremony tomorrow morning.
The employees will graduate with nationally recognised qualifications in Certificate III and IV in Aged Care, Certificate IV in Leisure and Lifestyle, Certificate IV in Frontline Management and Bachelor of Nursing.
IRT Chief Executive, Nieves Murray said IRT prides itself on being an industry leader in the provision of innovative aged care education and training.
“We have been conducting nationally recognised training for our staff for more than 20 years, and have been a Registered Training Organisation since 1997,” Ms Murray said.
“Our annual graduation ceremony is our chance to celebrate the achievements of our employees and their commitment to ensuring they have the best skills in the area of aged care.
“This type of training is particularly important with our aging population and the skills shortage the aged care industry is facing as the number of Australians aged 65 increases dramatically over the next ten to twenty years,” she said.
IRT’s education and training has broadened in scope over recent years to include management and leadership programs.
“We have spent many years developing the traditional clinical skills of our staff with overwhelming success,” Ms Murray said.
“Staff have excelled in their achievements on the clinical side, so we saw it as a natural progression to expand our training into the areas of leadership and management, in line with the growth and future direction of the organisation.
“It is our vision to ensure a highly skilled, well trained team is in place to lead IRT in the delivery of quality lifestyle and care now and into the future.”
Six employees will also receive Lifetime Awards at tomorrow’s ceremony for more than 30 years of service with IRT and a further two employees will receive 25 year service awards.
Representatives of the media are invited to attend the IRT graduation ceremony at 11am on Tuesday 31 May in the Norfolk Room at the Novotel Northbeach.
