IRT contributes to Intergenerational Forum
IRT Area Manager – ACT, Margaret Thornton will be a guest panelist at tomorrow’s Intergenerational Forum at the University of Canberra.
The public forum, entitled “The Ageing Boom: Current Research and Future Challenges”, is being held by the student section of the Australian Association of Gerontology. It will bring together students of ageing, government officials, industry stakeholders, academics and local seniors to discuss key themes of ageing in the 21st Century.
Ms Thornton will participate in a panel session on “Ageing in Place” at tomorrow’s forum. IRT is also a sponsor of the free, half-day event.
The forum will feature ACT Senior Australian of the year, Marie Colman, who will present a keynote speech - “The Ageing Boom: News from the frontline”. Local postgraduate students from Australian National University, University of Canberra and Australian Catholic University will also present research findings on topics including age-related hearing loss, relocation to retirement villages, falls and physical functionality, and the promotion of active ageing through senior citizen centres in the Philippines.
The forum will finish with two discussion forums where audience members can participate in open discussions with an expert panel on two topics - “Ageing in Place” and “Managing Changing Health”.
