Residents enjoy the great outdoors in comfort

IRT Greenwell Gardens Dementia Unit (Callala House) residents can now enjoy the great outdoors under the protection of a shade sail.
IRT Lifestyle Services Manager – Northern Shoalhaven Donna Mepham said the Friends of Greenwell Gardens Auxiliary funded the purchase and installation of the shade sail. “The residents have a bench seat in the garden under the shade sail that they now sit on,” Donna said. “It is a beautiful sight to see.”
Donna explained that dementia residents sometimes do not realise the length of time they have been in the sun, so protection was important when the residents were outside.
The shade sail will be officially opened on Monday, December 12 at 10am where morning tea will be served in Callala House garden area, under the shade sail.
