Living with Dementia in Retirement Villages

21 June 2018

This project is the first of its kind to explore the issue of dementia in retirement villages.

This research examined how well people with dementia are supported to age in place through the provision of community care and informal supports in retirement villages. Recommendations were made to assist retirement village operators and community care providers to respond to this increasingly important issue and better meet the needs of residents with dementia. A discussion paper was launched at NSW parliament house on 26 August 2015. A Dementia Guide for the Australian Retirement Village Industry was launched at the 2015 Retirement Living Summit in Brisbane.
