04 April 2018

IRT will celebrate NSW Seniors Festival (4-15 April) by hosting the screening of new release movie,
Finding Your Feet, with a morning tea for its residents, their friends and family, and the wider
Illawarra community.

Tickets to the matinee screenings at Wollongong’s Event Cinemas on 10 April cost just $5 each. The
Morning Tea kicks off at 9.45am, and the movie will screen at 10.30am.

“The NSW Seniors Festival is all about doing more together,” said IRT Group Chief Executive, Patrick Reid.

“Affordability and accessibility can be major barriers to social participation by older people in our community. This movie screening is a wonderful opportunity for our residents and friends to enjoy an outing, with the support of our dedicated staff,” he said.

Finding Your Feet tells the story of ‘Lady’ Sandra Abbott (Imelda Staunton) who discovers that her husband of forty years is having an affair with her best friend. She seeks refuge in London with her estranged, bohemian older sister Bif (Celia Imrie).

When Bif takes her along to a community dance class, Sandra meets a group of colourful friends, all defiant and energetic third-agers, who start to show Sandra that retirement is a new beginning, and that divorce could be her new lease of life and love.

To reserve your ticket to the IRT Finding Your Feet movie screenings, phone 134 478 or email engage@irt.org.au.

Now in its 60th year, the Festival is the largest of its kind for seniors in the Southern Hemisphere, reaching up to 500,000 seniors annually.
