IRT Academy launches new online learning platform

Industry
18 April 2018

IRT Academy, formerly IRT College, has confirmed its reputation as a market leader in aged care training with the launch of its online learning platform, allowing people to gain a nationally recognised aged care qualification from a distance. Now students can conveniently study online,
anywhere, anytime.

Originating in the Illawarra, IRT Academy has expanded across Queensland and NSW. The new online  delivery platform now makes in-demand nationally accredited skillset packages available to students nationwide.

The courses have been developed by experts in the Aged Care industry across palliation, dementia, medication and high support and complex care. These market leading online packages contain engaging videos, simulations, and online assessments.

IRT Academy’s affiliation with one of Australia’s largest community-owned aged care providers, IRT Group, distinguishes it from all other aged care training providers in the Australian market. IRT
assists Academy students to find a placement, either in an IRT community or with another aged care provider, where they can earn their 120 hours industry work experience. In contrast, students of many other aged care training courses are required to organise their own workplace experience. “IRT Academy’s Certificate III in Individual Support and Certificate IV in Ageing Support courses are
recognised across Australia,” says Campbell McGlynn, IRT Group Head of People & Culture.

“Our blended learning and work experience leaves graduates ready to make the jump from student to carer. In fact, many IRT Academy graduates gain employment from their course work placement,” says Mr McGlynn.

Various state government funding opportunities are also on offer to assist students with course fees, including Smart and Skilled funding, making this an accessible career path for a wide range of candidates.

“Australia’s population is ageing, and aged care is one of the fastest growing business sectors worldwide, making aged care staff in high demand,” says Mr McGlynn.

“Employment opportunities in the sector will only increase over the next 25 years, making work in aged care a stable and fulfilling career choice that can change the lives of older Australians.”
