Dear family member/resident representative,
Thank you for your support as we manage your loved one’s aged care centre in accordance with our outbreak management plan.
As you know we are currently managing the risk of COVID-19 in the care centre with a number of residents testing positive to the virus. Since my message to you on Friday results of PCR tests received over the weekend have revealed a further 8 residents to be positive, bringing the total number to 23 (this includes one resident who is in hospital – admitted for a non-COVID-19 related issue).
The majority of residents diagnosed with the virus are experiencing few, if any symptoms, however a small number are more challenged with moderate symptoms. We are monitoring all residents closely and in regular consultation with their GPs who, where appropriate, have prescribed anti-viral medication.
All residents are strongly encouraged to remain in their rooms, where they are being served their meals and provided a range of activities for their interest including exercises to help maintain their mobility.
The Lifestyle team is also on hand to assist where needed with phone or video calls to family and friends, and also providing company and conversation where needed.
If you are talking with your loved one by phone or video call, and have any concerns about them please contact the Care Manager.
To ensure early detection, the remaining residents who have not yet tested positive will be tested again today via the PCR method. With these tests sent off-site for laboratory analysis, we expect the results late today or tomorrow. If your loved one returns a positive result, staff will let you know by phone.
Visiting arrangements
As outlined last week the centre is closed to all visitors, unless by special arrangement with the Care Manager. All residents are also advised not to leave the centre unless for essential reasons such as medical appointments.
Delivery of gifts
If you would like to us to deliver anything to your loved one we would be pleased to assist. Instructions on where to drop your gift are marked near the main entrance (depending on the weather this could be near the doors, or nearby undercover). Please ensure your loved one’s name is clearly marked on the item and we will make sure they receive it.
