Dear family member/resident representative,
I am writing to provide you with an update about your loved one’s aged care centre.
As you know we are currently managing the care centre in accordance with our outbreak management plan with a number of residents testing positive to COVID-19.
As indicated in my message to you yesterday, all residents who were yet to test positive were tested again via the PCR method. We have received the results which have confirmed that another four residents have the virus; bringing the total number of COVID-19-positive residents being cared for within the centre to 26. Another resident with COVID-19 is currently in hospital for treatment for a non-COVID-19 related matter.
All residents diagnosed with the virus are stable, and experiencing symptoms ranging from none at all to moderate. They are being monitored closely and where appropriate have been prescribed anti-viral medication.
Meanwhile, to minimise the risk of the virus spreading further within the care centre, all residents are being cared for in their rooms. The Lifestyle team is offering support with regular visits, providing activities of interest such as crossword and Sudoku puzzles and treat bags of sweet and savoury snacks.
Residents with COVID-19 have also been provided a range of exercises by the visiting physiotherapist, to ensure they maintain their strength and mobility.
If you are talking with your loved one by phone or video call, and have any concerns about them please contact the Care Manager.
To ensure early detection, the remaining residents who have not yet tested positive will be tested again tomorrow via the PCR method. If your loved one returns a positive result, staff will let you know by phone.
Visiting arrangements
As previously outlined, the centre is closed to all visitors, unless by special arrangement with the Care Manager. All residents are also advised not to leave the centre unless for essential reasons such as medical appointments.
Please pass this message on to others as you consider appropriate and if you have any questions please contact your Care Manager.
Thank you for your co-operation.
Yours sincerely
Nia Briguglio
