Dear family member/resident representative,
I am writing to provide you with an update about your loved one’s aged care centre as we manage it in accordance with our outbreak management plan.
As indicated in my message to you on Tuesday, all residents who were yet to test positive were tested again via the PCR method yesterday. We have received the results and pleasingly all results were negative.
All residents diagnosed with COVID-19 are continuing their recovery and experiencing mild to no symptoms and over the weekend we expect some who tested positive early in the outbreak, to be formally deemed recovered.
While this is pleasing news, we haven’t dropped our guard and remain focussed on ensuring the safety and health of all our residents.
For now that means we ask that all residents remain in their rooms, where they are served their meals and supported by staff with their individual needs and encouraged to move about within their room to maintain their strength and mobility.
I realise this can be frustrating for some residents and I do appreciate their support and patience. If you’re talking with your loved one and you have any concerns about them please let the Care Manager know.
We continue our program of testing to ensure early detection of any further cases and tomorrow all remaining residents who have not yet tested positive will be tested again tomorrow via the PCR method. If your loved one returns a positive result, staff will let you know by phone.
Visiting arrangements
The centre is closed to all visitors with the exception of those who assist with essential care including help with meals; and by special arrangement with the Care Manager. All residents are also advised not to leave the centre unless for essential reasons such as medical appointments.
Please pass this message on to others as you consider appropriate and if you have any questions please contact your Care Manager.
My next update to you will be early next week.
Thank you for your co-operation.
Yours sincerely
Nia Briguglio
