Dear family member/resident representative,
I am writing to provide you with an update about your loved one’s aged care centre as we manage it in accordance with our outbreak management plan.
As indicated yesterday we have a number of residents who have tested positive for COVID-19. Since yesterday two more have been confirmed positive through later test results, and we are now caring for 16 residents with the virus. All are being monitored closely as they experience symptoms ranging from none at all to moderate.
We have consulted with resident GPs, and where appropriate anti-viral medication has been prescribed.
All residents are strongly encouraged to remain in their rooms, where they are being served their meals and today and we have arranged for a physiotherapist to visit residents and provide a range of in-room exercises to ensure they maintain their mobility.
The Lifestyle team is also on hand to assist where needed with phone or video calls. If you are talking with your loved one and have any concerns about them please contact the Care Manager.
As outlined yesterday, all residents who have not yet tested positive will be tested today via the PCR method and again on Monday. These tests are sent to a laboratory for analysis and it can take up to 24 hours for the care centre to receive the results.
My next update to you will be on Monday, but if your loved one returns a positive result from today’s tests you will be contacted by phone.
Visiting arrangements
As outlined yesterday the centre is closed to all visitors, unless by special arrangement with the Care Manager. All residents are also advised not to leave the centre unless for essential reasons such as medical appointments.
Please pass this message on to others as you consider appropriate and if you have any questions please contact your Care Manager.
Thank you for your co-operation.
Yours sincerely
Nia Briguglio
