An update about IRT Greenwell Gardens Aged Care Centre

9 August 2022

Dear family member/resident representative,

I’m writing to provide an update as we manage the risk of COVID-19 in Callala House at your loved one’s care centre, and to remind you about the importance of complying with our current visiting arrangements and providing proof of a negative rapid antigen test before entering the centre.

You may recall from my update last week that we have been caring for two residents with COVID-19 in Callala House. I’m pleased to let you know that one of these residents has now reached their full recovery criteria and is free of the virus, and the other is expected to reach their full recovery criteria tomorrow, pending a final review.

For the utmost caution, and in what we hope will be the last round; precautionary PCR tests for residents in Callala House who have not already tested positive for COVID-19 will be done today.

I will provide another update later this week when we hope to have the results of these tests, as well as advice from the local public health unit about when we can begin our transition back to regular operations.

Visiting arrangements

Callala House

This house remains closed to visitors unless by special arrangement with the Care Manager.

All other areas of the care centre

As previously explained, you are strongly discouraged from visiting at this time. If you do proceed with your plans to visit, the following arrangements remain in place:

  • All visits are by appointment only – please call the care centre in advance to arrange your visit.
  • All visitors must show proof of a negative rapid antigen test before entering the care centre. If you are visiting after hours, please press the buzzer and wait outside reception for a staff member to check your rapid antigen test before entering.
  • Two visitors per resident.
  • No children under the age of 12 years.
  • All visitors are asked to wear a P2/N95 mask when visiting and other PPE (which could include a face shield) as directed by staff.
  • Please wear your PPE as instructed by staff.

Please do not visit your loved one if you are experiencing any symptoms or are feeling unwell, even if the symptoms are mild. Even if you have a negative COVID-19 test result you may still have influenza or another virus which is highly contagious.

Please pass this message on to others as you consider appropriate and if you have any questions please contact your Care Manager.

Thank you for your support.

Yours sincerely,

Nia Briguglio
