An update about IRT Moruya Aged Care Centre

20 June 2022

Dear family member/resident representative,

Thank you for your support as we manage the risk of COVID-19 in your loved one’s aged care centre.

As you will recall, late last week we had a number of residents test positive for COVID-19 and in response we implemented our outbreak management plan.

To ensure early detection of any additional cases all residents were tested on Saturday via the PCR method and with all results now available, I can confirm another two residents have tested positive.

All residents are stable and experiencing a range of symptoms from none to moderate, and we are monitoring them closely in consultation with their GPs.

To reduce the risk of the virus spreading further within the care centre, all residents are encouraged to remain in their rooms and avoid moving about within the broader area of the centre.

All residents (except those who have already tested positive) will be tested again via the PCR method tomorrow. I will provide you with another update on Wednesday when we expect to have the results, but if your loved one is diagnosed earlier following a positive result you will be contacted directly by care centre staff.

Our lifestyle team continues to support residents and has distributed activity packs to suit a range of interests. When they can, our nursing trainees are also visiting residents to chat and assist where required with phone or video calls to their family and friends.

Visiting arrangements

With the risk of COVID-19 being managed at the centre you are encouraged to postpone your visit but if you do continue with your plans to visit the arrangements below now apply.
