Dear family member/resident representative,
I am writing to provide you with an update regarding your loved one’s aged care centre as we manage it in accordance with our outbreak management plan.
Since writing to you on Monday some more of our residents have been diagnosed with COVID-19. We are now caring for 47 resident with the virus and they are being monitored closely as they manage symptoms ranging from moderate to none at all.
Confirmation of the additional cases followed results of tests carried out yesterday. We continue to encourage all residents to remain in their rooms where they are being cared for and served their meals.
All are being checked regularly for symptoms and supported by staff with activity packs for a range of interests, and help when needed with phone or video calls. If you are talking with your loved one and have any concerns please let our staff know.
All residents who have not already tested positive for COVID-19 will be tested again on Friday and also on Sunday.
If your loved one returns a positive result staff will let you know by phone, and a member of staff will continue to provide you with a daily update regarding their progress.
As I explained in my message to you on Monday a number of our staff have also been diagnosed with COVID-19 and are currently recovering at home and away from work.
In response to this we have enacted our Priorities of Care plan; and also engaged assistance from external agencies, and staff from elsewhere within IRT. I myself will be working at the care centre tomorrow and Friday. I look forward to meeting our residents, and working with our staff.
