Dear family member/resident representative,
I am writing to provide you with an update about your loved one’s aged care centre.
As you know we have been managing the risk of COVID-19 within the care centre in accordance with our outbreak management plan.
Since writing to you on Wednesday two more residents have tested positive via rapid antigen tests. While we await confirmation of those results via PCR testing we are assuming them to have the virus and monitoring them closely (as we are with all other positive cases).
The PCR testing is being carried out today for all residents in the care centre who haven’t previously tested positive via this method. As I have previously explained it can take up to 24 hours for us to receive results.
All residents are strongly encouraged to remain in their room where we are serving them their meals, providing activities of interest and helping them with phone and video calls when possible.
Those diagnosed with the virus are stable with symptoms ranging from moderate to none at all and in the coming days we expect some to reach their recovery criteria.
My next update to you will be on Monday when we hope to have results of today’s PCR tests as well as those planned for Sunday. If your loved one returns a positive result staff will let you know by phone, and a member of staff will continue to provide you with a daily update regarding their progress.

As previously explained, visiting at this time is strongly discouraged, but if you do wish to proceed with your visit please contact the care centre to make an appointment.
