An update about IRT Tarrawanna Aged Care Centre

28 October 2021

Dear family member/resident representative

Thank you for your ongoing support.

As you know all residents and staff were tested again yesterday. I’m pleased to let you know that all results were negative. Residents will be tested again tomorrow and we appreciate their patience with this process.

In other pleasing news two more of our residents are now considered recovered, having reached the criteria of 14 days since their positive swab and three days with no symptoms.

We continue to care for 13 residents with COVID-19 at the care centre and we are optimistic that in the coming days more will be considered recovered.

Despite these pleasing results some of our residents remain challenged by their symptoms and we are continuing to monitor them closely with support from the Virtual Community Care team.

We also remain diligent with our infection control measures and remain focussed on ensuring the risk of further infection is managed in accordance with our outbreak management plan and in consultation with all relevant health authorities.

Our residents enjoyed yesterday’s Oktoberfest theme and the special menu created by our Catering team.

Today we will distribute hand-made cards to all residents from the children of Bungalow Early Learning Centre. The children have also prepared a special video for residents which will be shared with them today in their rooms. We hope to share it with you too via email in the coming days.

This children’s group have established a great relationship with many of our residents and together they have enjoyed Zoom get-togethers and story times; as well as face to face visits before the pandemic impacted regular visiting to the care centre. For your interest here are photos of some of the cards being delivered today.

Ongoing communication and gifts

Please remember if sending or delivering gifts to include your loved one’s name and ensure they are dropped off between 10am – 11am and 1pm – 2pm each day at the table outside reception. As previously mentioned, and especially as the weather warms up, please don’t send items that require refrigeration.

As the nominated representative of your loved one, I will continue providing you with an update via email. Please pass on this information to other family contacts as appropriate.

If your loved one is a resident who has not been diagnosed with COVID-19, our team will provide you with an update by phone tomorrow. They will continue to make their daily phone calls to those whose loved one has been diagnosed with COVID-19.

If you have any questions or concerns please call our Customer Service Team on 134 478.

Thank you again for your support and understanding.

Yours sincerely

Nia Briguglio
