An update about IRT Tarrawanna Aged Care Centre

3 November 2021

Dear family member/resident representative,

Today I am pleased to let you know that another of our residents diagnosed with COVID-19 is now considered recovered and all results from yesterday’s tests are negative for staff and residents.

We are now caring for four residents with COVID-19 at the care centre, while one resident remains in hospital. Sixteen of our 26 residents who originally tested positive have now reached the recovery criteria.

Residents who are still managing their COVID-19 symptoms continue to be monitored closely with support from the Virtual Community Care team, and we expect some to be deemed recovered in the coming days.

With this continued pleasing news we have started planning for our transition to a resumption of regular operation at the care centre. Today we will begin deep cleaning areas of the centre in preparation for residents to return to their rooms, beginning with; Lyrebird today, followed by Lorikeet, Rosella and Kookaburra tomorrow; and Kingfisher and Cockatoo on Friday. Your loved one may notice an increased level of activity as this work is carried out.

While we are optimistic for the transition, there is still some way to go, and we are maintaining our vigilance with all infection controls in place. I am grateful to all our residents for their support and patience as we care for them in their rooms.

Testing tomorrow

Residents and staff will be tested again tomorrow.

Melbourne Cup day a success

Yesterday, many of our residents enjoyed the Melbourne Cup festivities and enjoyed watching the race on television. Those who were successful in drawing the placegetters in the sweep were pleased with their winnings.

Today the Lifestyle team will offer a range of new activities to residents including: sewing and knitting kits, and small basketballs and hoops for some indoor basketball shooting action.

It has also been pleasing to see residents enjoy their escorted walks along the hallway and into the courtyard. The Lifestyle team will continue to assist with these, and also help where needed with video and phone calls to family and friends.

Ongoing communication and gifts

Residents have enjoyed receiving their gifts. Please remember if you are sending or delivering gifts to your loved one to include their name and ensure they are dropped off at the table located outside reception, between 10am – 11am and 1pm – 2pm each day. Please don’t send items that require refrigeration.

You are receiving this email update as you are the nominated representative of your loved one. Please pass on this information to other family contacts as appropriate.

If you have any questions or concerns please call our Customer Service Team on 134 478.

Thank you again for your ongoing support and understanding.

Yours sincerely

Nia Briguglio
