An update about IRT Thomas Holt Kirrawee Aged Care Centre

Dear family member/resident representative

I am pleased to let you know that we have already received some results from yesterday’s tests and again they are so far negative.

None of our residents have any COVID-19 symptoms and continue to be cared for in in their rooms with staff also supporting them with activities as well as phone and video contact with their family and friends when required.

Staff continue to manage the site according to our outbreak management plan and in consultation with relevant health authorities and will continue to manage the site in this way until at least 19 August.

While the centre is operating according to our outbreak management plan with many extra precautions in place staff have continued to manage what are the many day to day needs of an aged care centre. This has included providing that special level of care required for our residents palliating, and nearing the end of their life (for reasons not related to COVID-19).

Last night was such an occasion when we acknowledged the passing of one our residents and felt privileged to be able to assist their family with all the PPE and permissions required to say goodbye to their loved one. The resident had been a member of the IRT Thomas Holt Kirrawee family for some time, and we will all miss them. We have extended our deepest sympathies to their family and friends.

Staying connected

Where needed, staff will continue to assist residents to connect via phone and video calls with their family and friends. Please let us know if you need assistance.

Gift deliveries

Please remember to assist us with the following:

  • Do not send items that require refrigeration (we can’t guarantee we will get them to the fridge in time)
  • All items to be delivered between 10am – 11am or 1pm – 2pm
  • All items to be placed on the table positioned outside the Flame Tree building.

While I am pleased with progress at the centre I assure you we continue to follow our plans with sharp focus to ensure the ongoing safety of your loved one and management of any risk.
