Dear family member/resident representative
I am writing to provide you with a further update about your loved one’s aged care centre.
As indicated in my update yesterday residents in all buildings of the centre have now completed precautionary COVID-19 tests including those in Flame Tree who underwent a second test.
We are yet to receive results but I am pleased to report that all residents remain well with no symptoms.
All tests on staff received to date have been negative.
All continues to be managed calmly and in accordance with our outbreak management plan and in compliance with NSW Health protocols.
Even if all results of COVID-19 tests continue to indicate no evidence of the virus within the centre we are obliged, according to the government protocols, to continue with our current approach for the prescribed minimum 14-day period.
This means that your loved one will continue to be cared for and supported in their room for that period but our staff are committed to assisting them to connect with you and their friends via phone and video calls where possible. We have also distributed care packs to all residents across the centre – the packs comprise activities including crosswords, puzzles, colouring-in, and poetry.
Staff are continuing to make daily phone calls to those identified as responsible for the residents in the Flame Tree building and the Care Manager will continue providing them with her daily email update.
I will also endeavour to keep you informed but please pass this update on to other family members as you consider appropriate.
You might have been wondering about vaccination rates among residents at the aged care centre. Pleasingly, of the 46 residents in the Flame Tree building, 45 are fully vaccinated and the remaining resident has had one dose of the vaccine. Across the centre 98% of residents have had at least one dose of the vaccine and 91% are fully vaccinated.
Yesterday we held a vaccination clinic on site with many staff who were awaiting their second dose completing their vaccine schedule.
