An update about IRT William Beach Gardens Aged Care Centre

4 August 2022

Dear family member/resident representative,

I’m writing to provide an update on the risk of COVID-19 in our Nebo and Kembla Cottages in your loved one’s care centre.

We have received the results of our last round of PCR tests earlier than expected, and pleasingly all were negative.

We continue to care for two residents with the virus in Kembla Cottage, and both are stable with no symptoms. We also have two residents in Nebo Cottage recovering from the virus. One remains in hospital where they are receiving treatment and management of their symptoms, and the other remains stable at the care centre.

To minimise the risk of transmission, all residents in both cottages are still being encouraged to remain in their rooms where they continue to be cared for, served their meals, and supported where needed with phone and video calls.

Our next round of precautionary PCR tests for residents in Nebo and Kembla Cottages who have not yet tested positive will take place tomorrow.

I will provide you with another update early next week when we hope to have the results of those tests.

Visiting arrangements

While the risk of COVID-19 remains within the care centre you are encouraged to postpone your visit. If you do continue with your plans to visit, the following arrangements remain in place:

  • Residents are permitted 2 visitors only by appointment.
  • No children under the age of 12 years are permitted to visit.
  • All visitors are asked to show proof of a negative rapid antigen test before entering the care centre.
  • All visitors are asked to wear all necessary PPE at all times while in the care centre including a P2/N95 mask and a face shield which will be provided on entry.
  • Those visiting a resident who is considered a close contact or is COVID-19 positive will also be asked to wear a gown and instructed on how to dispose of it safely.
  • Please wear your PPE as instructed by staff. If a staff member asks you to adjust it they are doing so to protect you, your loved one, and all others living and working in the care centre.

Please do not visit if you are experiencing any symptoms or are feeling unwell, even if the symptoms are mild.

Please pass this message on to others as you consider appropriate and if you have any questions please contact your Care Manager.

Thank you for your support.

Yours sincerely

Nia Briguglio
