An update about IRT William Beach Gardens Aged Care Centre

20 June 2022

Dear family member/resident representative,

I am writing to provide you with an update about your loved one’s aged care centre.

I am pleased to let you know that another one of our residents in Nebo cottage who was COVID-19 positive has today reached their recovery criteria and has been cleared to join the rest of the care centre. As all residents in Nebo cottage have recovered, this area of the aged care centre is now transitioning to regular operations.

The results of the PCR tests conducted in Huntley residents on Friday also returned a negative result for all residents.

We are caring for one positive resident in Huntley. The resident is currently on day 7 of their recovery and is experiencing mild symptoms, including a cough.

Unfortunately this morning a resident who was exposed to COVID-19 outside of the aged care centre has tested positive on a rapid antigen test. This resident lives in Akuna cottage and is now being cared for in their room.

As a precaution and to detect any suspected cases early, all residents in Akuna cottage will be PCR tested today. I will keep you informed of the results in my next update, however if your loved one does test positive a member of staff from the aged care centre will phone you directly.

Visiting arrangements and the wearing of PPE

I encourage you to reschedule your visit to the aged care centre at this time. If you wish to proceed with visiting, please provide your support to staff by complying with the following:

  • Children under 12 years of age are not permitted to visit.
  • Residents will be permitted 2 visitors only by appointment.
  • All visitors will be asked to show proof of a negative rapid antigen test before entering the care centre.
  • All visitors will be asked to wear all necessary PPE while in the care centre including a P2/N95 mask and a face shield which will be provided on entry.
  • If you are visiting a resident who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 you may be asked to wear a gown and instructed on how to dispose of it safely.
  • Please assist staff by complying with all requirements to wear PPE.

As always please do not visit your loved one if you are unwell yourself with even the mildest symptoms. Even if you have tested negative for COVID-19 you may still have an infectious respiratory infection.

Please pass this information to others as you consider appropriate.

If you have any questions please contact your Care Manager.

Thank you in advance for your co-operation.

Yours sincerely,

Nia Briguglio
