An update about IRT William Beach Gardens Aged Care Centre

Dear family member/resident representative,

Thank you for your support as we manage the risk of COVID-19 in your loved one’s aged care centre in accordance with our outbreak management plan.

I am pleased to let you know that the results of the PCR tests conducted on residents in Akuna Cottage on Wednesday have returned a negative result.

In other news, our positive resident in Huntley has today reached their recovery criteria and will be reviewed prior to joining the rest of the care centre. All other residents in Huntley will be PCR tested today and if the results are negative, we are hopeful that this will be the last test on these residents.

Our positive resident in Akuna cottage is recovering well, however is experiencing some mild symptoms including a sore throat and cough. They are being treated with antiviral medication to support in their recovery.

Visiting arrangements and the wearing of PPE   

I encourage you to reschedule your visit to the aged care centre at this time. If you wish to proceed with visiting, please provide your support to staff by complying with the following:

• Children under 12 years of age are not permitted to visit.
• Residents will be permitted 2 visitors only by appointment.
• All visitors will be asked to show proof of a negative rapid antigen test before entering the care centre.
• All visitors will be asked to wear all necessary PPE while in the care centre including a P2/N95 mask and a face shield which will be provided on entry.
• If you are visiting a resident who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 you may be asked to wear a gown and instructed on how to dispose of it safely.
• Please assist staff by complying with all requirements to wear PPE.

As always please do not visit your loved one if you are unwell yourself with even the mildest symptoms. Even if you have tested negative for COVID-19 you may still have an infectious respiratory infection.
