An update about IRT Woonona Aged Care Centre

Dear family member/resident representative,

Thank you for your ongoing support as we manage the risk of COVID-19 at your loved one’s aged care centre. The work of our staff is made easier with your patience and understanding.

Since writing to you late last week, pleasingly a number of our residents who were earlier diagnosed with COVID-19, have reached their recovery criteria and they are now able to leave their rooms and meet with others in common areas. We expect more to reach their recovery criteria today. This occurs at least 10 days after diagnosis and a further 24 hours without symptoms.

Unfortunately in other news, the results of tests conducted on Friday confirmed four more residents in Flametree Ground Floor have the virus. The residents are stable, with few symptoms and are being monitored regularly as we care for them in their rooms.

All residents, with the exception of Blueberry Ash and Ribbonwood Level 1 are encouraged to stay in their rooms, where staff continue to support them with their care needs and meals are served.

Residents in Ribbonwood Level 1 and Blueberry Ash are not required to isolate and can leave their rooms to socialise with others in their areas. While residents in those areas are not required to isolate they will be included in our next round of precautionary testing for all residents in the care centre, which is being completed today.

Results of the tests are expected within 24 hours and staff will let you know if your loved one returns a positive result.

Restricted visiting

Until we are certain there is no further risk of transmission within the care centre, visiting is restricted to those who provide essential care only and by arrangement with the Care Manager.
