Dear family member/resident representative,
Thank you for your support as we manage the risk of COVID-19 in your loved one’s aged care centre.
You might recall that I let you know on Monday that a number of residents in Level 2 of Ribbonwood had been diagnosed with COVID-19.
As explained then, a round of precautionary testing was carried out for all residents of Ribbonwood Level 2 (except those already diagnosed with the virus) yesterday. Residents of the ground floor of the Flametree building were also tested due to a potential exposure.
The tests were conducted via the PCR method and sent off site for laboratory analysis. We are yet to receive the results but we have had one resident of Ribbonwood Level 2 return a positive rapid antigen test after developing mild symptoms.
There are now twelve residents from Ribbonwood Level 2 with the virus; two of whom have transferred to our COVID-19 unit at Kirrawee where they will continue their recovery. Those remaining at Woonona are considered stable; experiencing mild to moderate symptoms, and are being cared for in their rooms where they are being monitored closely and served their meals.
To reduce the risk of transmission we continue to encourage all other residents in Ribbonwood Level 2 to remain in their rooms where they are being supported by staff with their care needs, activities to suit a range of interests, and help with phone and video calls where needed. Today the Lifestyle team has distributed treat bags containing a range of savoury and sweet snacks.
As explained on Monday we will continue a program of regular testing to ensure early detection of any other cases. In keeping with this program, another round of testing will be conducted tomorrow for those residents in Ribbonwood Level 2 who haven’t already tested positive.
I will provide you with another update when we receive further results. Meanwhile, if your loved one returns a positive result staff will contact you to let you know and keep you updated on their progress.
Visiting arrangements
While we manage the care centre in accordance with our outbreak management plan the following visiting arrangements are in place.

While we manage the risk of COVID-19 at the centre you are encouraged to reconsider your visit at this time. If you do continue with your plans please assist the care centre by complying with the following:
Please do not visit your loved one if you are experiencing any symptoms or are feeling unwell, even if the symptoms are mild.
Please pass this message on to others as you consider appropriate and if you have any questions please contact your Care Manager.
