An update about IRT Tarrawanna Aged Care Centre

30 October 2021

Dear family member/resident representative,

I am grateful for your understanding and patience as we manage the outbreak at your loved one’s aged care centre.

As you know, yesterday all residents and staff were again tested and I’m pleased to let you know that we have received all results for our residents and they were again all negative. Results for staff which have been received so far are also negative.

Since my update yesterday we have also been able to transfer one of our recovered residents back to their original room.

We are now caring for 9 residents with COVID-19 at the care centre. Many of these are continuing on their pathway to recovery, but some are still challenged by their symptoms. The Virtual Community Care team continues to support us with monitoring of all residents.

Residents and staff will be tested again tomorrow and I will let you know the results when I provide you with my next update on Monday.

While we continue with pleasingly negative results and some of our residents reach the recovery criteria, we continue to operate in accordance with our outbreak management plan, and in consultation with all relevant health authorities.

Our Lifestyle team continues to engage with residents to provide them with activities and materials targeted at their special interests; and assist with escorted walks in the hallway and courtyard.

Preparations are also underway for Melbourne Cup day next Tuesday 2 November and in anticipation of the ‘race that stops a nation’, residents will be invited to participate in the care centre’s Sweep in the coming days.

They are also working to ensure all residents are assisted when needed to connect with family and friends via phone or video calls.

Ongoing communication and gifts

Please remember if sending or delivering gifts to include your loved one’s name and ensure they are dropped off between 10am – 11am and 1pm – 2pm each day at the table outside reception. As previously mentioned, and especially as the weather warms up, please don’t send items that require refrigeration.

You are receiving this email update as you are the nominated representative of your loved one. Please pass on this information to other family contacts as appropriate. As mentioned above, unless there is a significant change in the status, my next update to you will be on Monday.

If you have any questions or concerns please call our Customer Service Team on 134 478.

Thank you again for your support and understanding.

Yours sincerely

Nia Briguglio
