Dear family member/resident representative,
I am writing to provide you with some information about your loved one’s aged care centre.
As you will know, there has been an increased risk of COVID-19 in the local community with new locations of concern being identified in the area near your loved one’s aged care centre.
Due to this, we have introduced additional safety measures across the centre to ensure we reduce the risk of an outbreak in the aged care centre.
Face Masks and Shields
You may have heard from your loved one that our staff are wearing a different type of mask as well as face shields.
You are reminded that as per current directions issued by the NSW Chief Health Officer no visitors are permitted into an aged care centre, except for end of life or other compassionate reasons.
This includes end of life visits, and might include providing help with essential functions such as help with meals, personal care or behaviours, as determined by the Care Management team.
If the Care Management team authorises an essential visit for the above purposes only one nominated family representative may provide these essential duties.
The NSW Chief Health Officer also directs that residents can only leave the aged care centre for essential medical care that cannot be provided on site.
I know this is a challenging time and the rules and restrictions may be difficult for some to accept but we must comply with the directions of the Chief Health Officer and work together to continue our focus on reducing the risk of a COVID-19 outbreak.
I want to assure you that our staff are committed to the health, safety and wellbeing of your loved one and remain committed to helping when they can to connect you with them via phone, video calls and where possible, window visits.
If you need help with this or have any questions please contact your Care Manager.
