An update regarding IRT Greenwell Gardens Aged Care Centre

10 September 2021

Dear family member/resident representative,

I am writing to let you know that pleasingly residents in Callala House at your loved one’s aged care centre who have been experiencing symptoms of a respiratory illness continue to recover and are doing well.

Results of tests for COVID-19 and influenza received so far have been negative, and unwell residents continue to be cared for in their rooms and we remain in touch with their families.

As indicated to you in my previous message, we continue to engage with the NSW Public Health Unit and act in accordance with their directions, and will do so until all unwell residents recover from their symptoms.

Surgical Face Masks

As there has been an increased risk of COVID-19 in the community, with new locations of concern identified in many parts of NSW including areas near your loved one’s aged care centre, we have introduced additional PPE for staff to reduce the risk of COVID-19 entering our aged care centres.

Your loved one will notice that our staff are now wearing a different type of mask, and this will continue until the community risk is reduced.

Vaccination

I am pleased to report a very high rate of vaccination in residents at all our aged care centres and from 17 September in NSW, it will be mandatory for all people who work in an aged care centre to have had at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. This is a Federal government rule, supported by NSW public health orders.

No visiting at the centre

A reminder that as per current Public Health Unit directions the centre remains closed to all visitors, except for essential visits only. These visits must be arranged in accordance with the Care Manager.

Thank you for your continued patience and support at this difficult time. As has been the case throughout the pandemic, our focus on reducing the risk of a COVID-19 outbreak remains steadfast, as does our commitment to the health, safety and wellbeing of your loved one.

If you have any questions please contact your Care Manager.

Yours sincerely
