COVID-19 Visitor Arrangements

The following visitor arrangements are in place:

  • Visiting times
Visits are restricted to 30 minutes in length.
Visiting times vary by aged care centre. Please contact the centre to make an appointment.

  • Number of visitors
No more than 2 visitors at one time per resident. These must be next of kin, nominated representatives, or those who have been regular weekly visitors.

  • Age of visitors
No visitors under the age of 16.

  • Dedicated entry point
Visitors must sign in at a dedicated entry point – this will be clearly marked on your arrival.

  • Wellness checks
You will need to undertake a wellness check on arrival at the aged care centre. As part of the wellness check you will be asked to answer a series of wellness questions, have your temperature checked and sign a disclaimer. Please DO NOT visit the aged care centre if you or anyone you have been in contact with is feeling unwell with symptoms of a cold, flu or COVID-19.Please also reconsider your visit if you have recently participated in a large group gathering or live in a currently designated COVID-19 hotspot.

  • Influenza vaccination
Visitors need to provide evidence of current influenza vaccination (this is a government requirement).

  • Hand hygiene
All visitors must wash their hands thoroughly before entering and leaving the aged care centre or use alcohol-based hand sanitiser.

  • Location of visits
    Visits must take place in:
    – a resident’s single room
    – designated visitor room, or
    – outdoors.

  • Social distancing
Please maintain social distancing of at least 1.5 metres, unless assisting with personal care, such as meals.

  • Personal protective equipment
There may be occasions where visitors may be required to wear a mask. The Care Manager will discuss this with you if necessary.

  • Clean clothes, gifts and flowers
Please wear clean clothes and come straight to the aged care centre from home. If you would like to bring your loved one a gift, please consider the ability for it to be cleaned/disinfected before it can be given to them. We will accept flowers for your loved one.

  • Avoid outings
We recommend that you do not take your loved one out on social leave unless for an essential medical reason.

We continue to facilitate telephone and video calls for family members who are unable to visit and to make special arrangements for compassionate visits.

We are also monitoring the health and wellbeing of all residents and encouraging them to participate in activities and socialise with one another.

We will continue to review our visiting arrangements against indicators of risk including rates of community transmission, rates of aged care infection and the availability of infection control resources.
