Furniture upgrades at IRT Greenwell Gardens

Dear family member/resident representative,

I am writing to let you know that in the coming weeks you may notice when visiting your loved one’s aged care centre that a number of updates have been made to the furniture in our common areas.

You may also notice a new noticeboard system that consolidates the number of noticeboards in common areas. We hope this will improve the focus and display of our messaging, activity schedules and information for residents and their visitors.

Furniture upgrade

This upgrade is part of our refurbishment program to ensure that all areas of your loved one’s aged care centre are welcoming, create a sense of belonging, and promote independence, interaction and enjoyment for your loved one and all their visitors.

We have worked extensively with expert designers and decorators in the aged care sector to determine colours, contrasts and textures that are most suitable for the furniture and fittings in the care centre’s common areas and Namaste Room. Special consideration has also been given to ensure the upgrades support residents who may have sensory loss or a cognitive impairment.

The majority of the common areas will see a range of new furniture similar to those pictured below.

The furniture will be upholstered in combinations of the following textured and non-textured fabrics and colours which have been selected for their durability, and tolerance of our cleaning products.

We have let all our residents know, and have invited them to share their thoughts with us on the colours and designs.

We are also keen to hear your thoughts. After their delivery and installation, which as explained above, is expected in the coming weeks, please take a moment when you are visiting to note the new colours, fabrics and furniture designs and let us know how you like them.

Any existing furniture that is no longer fit-for-purpose will be removed and recycled sustainably.
