Dear family member/resident representative,
Since writing to you yesterday, unfortunately a resident in Shoalhaven Court at your loved one’s aged care centre has tested positive to COVID-19 on a rapid antigen test.
The resident is fully vaccinated and we have been in contact with their nominated resident representatives.
We are now caring for two residents with COVID-19 at the care centre who are experiencing mild symptoms and are being closely monitored by staff.
All other residents at the care centre remain well, however as a precaution we will be testing them again on Sunday.
Residents are encouraged to isolate where possible and meals are being served in their room until our next round of testing on Sunday. Residents are also able to exercise outside of their room, however are being encouraged to wear a surgical mask during these times.
Visiting arrangements and resident outings
At this stage the centre remains open to visitors, including Shoalhaven Court and Banksia Wing, as per the arrangements outlined for NSW Aged Care Centres here.
However with the increased risk of exposure at the care centre, we strongly urge that you reconsider your need to visit and, if not possible, to exercise caution if a scheduled visit must go ahead.
We ask all visitors to please follow the advice of staff throughout their visit due to some changes in walking through certain areas of the care centre.
Please do not visit the care centre if you are unwell or experiencing any symptoms, or if you are awaiting the result of a PCR test.
Residents who have not been identified as a close contact are able to leave the centre for a resident outing, however where possible, we encourage them to change these plans to minimise further risk of community exposure.
I am writing to you as you are the person identified in our records as your loved one’s nominated representative. Please pass this message on to others as you consider appropriate.
My next update to you will be on Monday, unless I receive any new information to share with you. If you have any questions, please speak with your Care Manager.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Yours sincerely,
Nia Briguglio
