Important information about IRT Dalmeny Aged Care Centre

5 September 2022

Dear family member/resident representative,

I am writing to provide you with an update as we manage the risk of COVID-19 at your loved one’s aged care centre.

We have received the results from our last round of PCR tests which have confirmed another six residents to have the virus (this includes the two residents who tested positive via rapid antigen tests last week).

We are now caring for eight residents with the virus in the Mummaga Wing. All residents remain stable with mild symptoms and are being monitored closely as we care for them in their rooms.

To minimise the risk of transmission, we continue to encourage all residents in the Mummaga Wing to remain in their rooms (where possible) where staff are supporting them with their care needs and serving their meals.

Our Lifestyle team also continue to offer residents support to connect with family and friends by video and phone calls. If you are talking with your loved one and you have any concerns please let the Care Manager know.

We will continue with our program of testing for early detection this week, with another round of PCR tests scheduled for today. These tests are only for residents in the Mummaga Wing who haven’t already tested positive. Residents in other areas of the care centre do not have to be tested.

I will provide you with another update when we receive the results of these tests. As previously explained, if your loved one returns a positive result staff will let you know by phone and continue to update you on their progress.
