Important information about IRT Dalmeny Aged Care Centre

7 September 2022

Dear family member/resident representative,

Thank you for your support and patience as we manage the risk of COVID-19 in the Mummaga Wing at your loved one’s aged care centre.

We have received the results from our last round of PCR tests which have confirmed another three residents to have the virus.

We are now caring for 11 residents with COVID-19 in the Mummaga Wing. They are being monitored regularly and, where applicable, have also been prescribed anti-viral medication by their GPs. All residents are stable and experiencing mild symptoms such as a cough, sore throat and runny nose.

To minimise the risk of transmission, we continue to encourage all residents in the Mummaga Wing to remain in their rooms where staff are supporting them with their care needs and serving their meals. We do understand that isolating can be challenging for some, and so where required, our staff continue to support residents with escorted walks and other forms of one-on-one engagement.

Our Lifestyle team is also supporting our residents with activity packs to suit a range of interests and providing assistance to connect with family and friends by phone and video calls.

To ensure we detect any other cases as soon as possible, we will be doing another round of PCR tests today. These tests are only for the three residents in the Mummaga Wing who haven’t already tested positive. Residents in other areas of the care centre do not have to be tested.

I will provide you with another update when we receive the results of these tests. As previously explained, if your loved one returns a positive result staff will let you know by phone and continue to update you on their progress.
