Dear family member/resident representative,
I am writing to provide you with an update about your loved one’s aged care centre.
Since writing to you yesterday we have received some results from the COVID-19 tests of residents and staff. Results have indicated another resident has tested positive to the virus while other results received so far have been negative.
The resident whose results were received today remains well and has been fully vaccinated. Our resident who tested positive yesterday continues to experience mild symptoms. We are monitoring both residents closely.
As I said yesterday I acknowledge this may be a concern but we have been quick to manage the site in accordance with our outbreak management plan and are continuing to work with the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD) and other health authorities to ensure all necessary infection control protocols are in place.
As you know all residents have been isolated in their rooms and to provide regular updates our team is making phone contact with people who are identified in our database as responsible for each resident.
Currently no other residents have any COVID-19 symptoms but, in accordance with our outbreak management plan we will continue routine testing for COVID-19 on all residents in the coming days, and we will monitor them regularly.
Until we are confident that the risk of an outbreak within the centre has passed your loved one will remain in their room where they will receive their meals. Staff will also assist them where needed to connect with you via phone or video call.
As I stated yesterday, I will provide you with regular updates as you are identified in our records as the person responsible for your loved one. I encourage you to pass on the regular updates to other family members as you consider appropriate.
As per current Public Health Unit directions the centre remains closed to all visitors.
