Important information about IRT Thomas Holt Kirrawee Aged Care Centre

07 September 2022

Dear family member/resident representative

I am writing to provide you with an update as we manage the risk of COVID-19 at your loved one’s aged care centre.

We have received the results from our last round of PCR tests which have confirmed another two residents from Level 4 of the Flametree building to have the virus.

In consultation with the residents and their families, they have been transferred to the COVID-19 wing on Level 1 to continue with their recovery.

All residents in our COVID-19 wing are stable and experiencing only mild symptoms such as a slight cough and a runny nose.

To minimise the risk of transmission, we are encouraging all residents on Level 4 of the Flametree building to remain in their rooms where staff are supporting them with their care needs and serving their meals. We do understand that isolating can be challenging for some, and so where required, our staff continue to support residents with escorted walks and other forms of one-on-one engagement.

We are continuing with our program of testing for early detection and will be doing another round of PCR tests today for residents on Level 4 who haven’t already tested positive. Residents in other areas of the care centre do not have to be tested.

I will provide you with another update when we receive the results. As previously mentioned, if your loved one returns a positive result staff will be in touch with you by phone to let you know.

Visiting arrangements

Flametree Level 4

While there is a risk of COVID-19 transmission within this area, visiting is strongly discouraged. If you still wish to proceed with your plans to visit, please contact the Care Manager to make an appointment.

All other levels and areas

There is no change to the visiting arrangements currently in place.

As always, please do not visit your loved one if you are experiencing any symptoms or are feeling unwell even if you have a negative COVID-19 test result. You may still have influenza or another virus which is highly contagious

Please pass this message on to others as you consider appropriate and if you have any questions please contact your Care Manager.

Thank you for your co-operation.

Yours sincerely
