Important information about IRT Thomas Holt Kirrawee Aged Care Centre

09 September 2022

Dear family member/resident representative

Thank you for your support as we manage the risk of COVID-19 at your loved one’s aged care centre.

As you know we implemented our outbreak management plan earlier this week in response to a number of residents from Level 4 of the Flametree building, being diagnosed with COVID-19.

There are eight residents with the virus, who are continuing their recovery in our COVID-19 unit on Level 1 of the Flametree building and all are experiencing mild symptoms.

Other residents on Level 4 who have not been diagnosed with COVID-19 are being tested routinely to ensure early detection. Results of tests since my last update have been negative but we will continue with the regime, testing them again today and again on Sunday.

While they are being encouraged to remain in their rooms we recognise this can be challenging for some and the Lifestyle team is providing support where needed, assisting with one-on-one engagement including escorted walks. Where required they are also available to assist with phone or video calls – if you would like help connecting with your loved one please let the care team know.

I will provide you with another update early next week when we hope to have results from today’s tests and those over the weekend. If your loved one returns a positive result staff will be in touch with you by phone to let you know.

Visiting arrangements

Flametree Level 4 and Level 1

While there is a risk of COVID-19 transmission within this area, visiting is strongly discouraged. If you would like to visit please contact the Care Manager to discuss your plans and you will be guided on how to make it as COVID-19-safe as possible.

All other areas of the care centre

There are no changes to visiting in all other areas of the care centre.

Please note that if you have had COVID-19 you must not enter an aged care centre until 10 days has passed from your diagnosis day, and you have no symptoms.

Further to the above please do not visit your loved one if you are experiencing any symptoms or are feeling unwell even if you have a negative COVID-19 test result. You may still have influenza or another virus which is highly contagious.

Please pass this message on to others as you consider appropriate and if you have any questions please contact your Care Manager.

Thank you for your co-operation.

Yours sincerely
