Important information about IRT Thomas Holt Kirrawee Aged Care Centre

Dear family member/resident representative,

I am writing to let you know that some residents at your loved one’s aged care centre have tested positive to COVID-19.

The residents live on level 2 of the Flame Tree building and on level 2 of the Jacaranda building.  These residents are experiencing mild symptoms and are being closely monitored and cared for by our staff in their rooms. Where appropriate residents have commenced antiviral medication as prescribed by their GPs.

In response to this we have implemented our outbreak management plan, which includes a range of infection control protocols to minimise the risk of the virus spreading within the care centre.

We have also implemented a routine testing regime to ensure we detect any other cases as soon as possible. If your loved one returns a positive result, we will let you know by phone and will continue to provide you with updates regarding their progress.

Visiting arrangements

While we manage the risk of COVID-19 at the centre, you are encouraged to postpone your visit to these areas at this time. If you do continue with your plans to visit, please assist us by complying with the following:

• All visitors are asked to complete their own rapid antigen test at home or on arrival at the centre and provide proof of the negative result (photo or actual test).
• All visitors are asked to wear a P2/N95 mask and a face shield which will be provided on entry. These are required to be worn at all times and in all places within the centre.
• Those visiting a resident who is considered a close contact or is COVID-19 positive will also be asked to wear a gown and instructed on how to dispose of it safely.
• Please wear your PPE as instructed by staff. If a staff member asks you to adjust it they are doing so to protect you, your loved one, and all others living and working in the care centre.
• Children under the age of 12 are not permitted to visit.

Please do not visit if you are unwell yourself, with even the mildest symptoms. Symptoms of respiratory infection can indicate a range of contagious viruses including COVID-19 and influenza.
