Dear family member/resident representative,
Firstly I would like to thank you for your ongoing patience and understanding. It means a lot to our staff and residents to have your support at this time.
Since writing to you yesterday we have received further results from the COVID-19 tests of residents and staff; the final results from Thursday’s tests and some from yesterday.
So far all results for residents are negative, but we have had one staff member return a positive test. That staff member who is fully vaccinated, has no symptoms but is now isolating and will remain so for at least 14 days. All other results received for staff are negative.
Our residents who were transferred from the centre yesterday remain comfortable with no change in symptoms which range from none at all, to mild and moderate.
We are in regular contact with Wollongong Hospital and Lawrence Hargrave Hospital for updates on their progress.
We continue to care for all residents in their rooms and today they will be offered a range of cakes provided by our catering team and snack bags for their enjoyment.
In accordance with our outbreak management plan all residents are being monitored routinely with regular temperature checks, and the day to day running of the aged care centre continues with care for all residents, including those who need extra care as they near the end of life.
We are grateful for the cooperation of residents and are eager to assist them with phone and video calls as needed. If you are talking with your loved one and have any concerns about them please let us know.

In addition to my regular updates our team will continue making regular phone calls to you as you are identified in our records as the person responsible for your loved one.
No visiting
As per current Public Health Unit directions the centre remains closed to all visitors. You may be aware that the NSW Chief Health Officer has issued directions for a resumption of some visiting at aged care centres in NSW from 11 October.
As we are still managing a degree of risk within your loved one’s aged care centre we won’t be accepting visitors from that date. When visiting does resume at IRT Tarrawanna we will share with you detailed information about the full range of precautions that will be in place.
