Information about the QI Program Survey

12 May 2023

Dear family member/resident representative,

I’m writing to let you know about a new quarterly survey we will be facilitating at your loved one’s aged care centre.

What is the survey for?

The survey is part of the Federal Government’s National Aged Care Mandatory Quality Indicator Program (QI Program).

It is a mandate for approved providers of residential aged care to collect feedback from our residents or nominated representatives on 11 crucial areas of care, such as pressure injuries, medication management, and quality of life. We are then required to submit this data to the government on a quarterly basis.

What are the details?

The survey will open for residents on Monday 22 May 2023 and will close on Friday 16 June 2023. It includes 12 questions and will take approximately 10 minutes to complete.

Your loved one will be provided with a copy of the survey to complete in their own time. If they need assistance to complete the survey, our staff will be on hand to read out the questions to them, or write their responses down.

If your loved is unable to complete the survey, you will be invited to be their proxy and complete the survey on their behalf.

How will I know if I’ve been invited to be my loved one’s proxy?

If you’re invited to be your loved one’s proxy, you will receive an email and SMS from an independent provider called MOA Benchmarking on Monday 29 May 2023 with a link to the online survey. The message will look something like this:

Are survey responses anonymous?

Yes. The survey is run by MOA Benchmarking and all survey responses are completely anonymous.

It is for this reason that we encourage you and your loved one to continue using IRT’s existing Feedback and Complaints process if you have any immediate comments, complaints or feedback so that we can openly communicate with you and respond as soon as possible.

What happens once the survey closes?

A summary of the survey results for your loved one’s care centre will be available approximately three weeks after the survey closes and will be shared at your Residents and Relatives meeting. You can also request a copy from the Care Manager.

Results for all residential aged care providers in Australia will be published by the government on the GEN Aged Care Data website approximately six months after the survey is conducted.

We will be facilitating the QI Program Survey at your loved one’s care centre on the second month of each quarter and we will provide you with notice prior to each survey being conducted.

Please pass this message on to others as you consider appropriate. If you’d like more information about the QI Program, click here and if you have any questions, please speak to your Care Manager.

Thank you for your support.

Kind regards,

Nia Briguglio
Executive General Manager – Aged Care Centres
