Dear family member/resident representative,
I’m writing to advise you about the proposed works to replace the lift at your loved one’s aged care centre.
A review of the lift has been conducted following ongoing issues identified that have made the delivery of some services a challenge. The review has confirmed the need to replace the lift to minimise any further challenges.
Proposed to commence in January 2023, the works required to replace the lift will be extensive and are expected to take approximately 6 weeks. There will be significant noise for approximately 1 week, and then intermittent noise and dust throughout the estimated 6 week period it will take to complete the works.
Given the works will have a significant impact on residents, particularly those on level 1, the best option is to move all residents from Sans Souci Gardens to IRT Thomas Holt Kirrawee for the duration of the works required to replace the lift.
The resident/relative meeting held on 11 October 2022 informed all those who joined of these proposed works. We discussed the risks posed to residents if they were to remain onsite during the period of works and the solution to transfer all residents to Kirrawee to avoid these risks.
Identified risks:
A barrier in the area in front of the lift will be installed to minimise the impact of noise and dust. Contractors will also need to occupy the car spaces closest to the building, along with half of the space undercover near the entrance to the site.
A tour of Kirrawee level 1 can be arranged for anyone wishing to view the site prior to the temporary move. All rooms on level 1 are individual rooms with ensuites.
IRT will coordinate and facilitate the move of all residents to IRT Thomas Holt Kirrawee including limited personal belongings.
To minimise the impact on residents and to ensure continuity of care being provided, IRT Thomas Holt Sans Souci Gardens staff will also transition to Kirrawee.
Please provide confirmation that you agree with the proposed move to Kirrawee and any other feedback using the email address ssgliftreplacement@irt.org.au, by 4 November 2022. A resident relative meeting will be scheduled to present the final move plans.
