Dear family member/resident representative,
I am writing to let you know that we will soon be upgrading the lighting in all areas of your loved one’s aged care centre including your loved one’s room.
This upgrade is part of our refurbishment program to ensure that all areas of the care centre are welcoming, create a sense of belonging, and promote independence, interaction and enjoyment for your loved one and all their visitors.
We have worked extensively with expert lighting consultants in the aged care sector to determine the right lighting colours, lumens and lux levels that are most suitable for the care centre’s common areas and each resident’s room. Special consideration has also been given to ensure the upgrades support residents who may have sensory loss or a cognitive impairment.
To provide you with the opportunity to assess the new lighting experience and provide feedback before it is installed throughout the care centre, room 17 in House 2 and adjacent hallways have been pre-installed with a range of the new LED lights for trial purposes.
If you are visiting your loved one’s aged care centre you might like to take a moment to also visit the area. Please let staff know if require assistance finding House 2.
We are interested in your feedback on the brightness, tone (warm or cold) and overall effectiveness. You can do this by emailing the aged care centres operations team at: acccommercialops@irt.org.au
We have also let all our residents know, and have invited them to share their thoughts with us if they are able, and interested, to view the trial area.
All feedback received will help inform the LED lighting upgrade across all areas of the care centre, including in your loved one’s room, which is expected to begin later this month. Staff will let your loved one know when this is scheduled to occur. It will involve a brief visit from the lighting contractor to remove the existing lights and fit the new ones.
