Restricted visiting arrangements

2 July 2021

Dear family member/resident representative

I wrote to you earlier this week about restricted visiting arrangements imposed by the Queensland Chief Health Officer on aged care centres in areas of Queensland, including the Sunshine Coast. This followed an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in those areas.

Updated directions are expected today which may see an easing of restrictions including those relating to visiting an aged care centre.

However while a degree of risk remains, with active cases of COVID-19 continuing to present in some areas of the broader community your loved one’s aged care centre will remained closed to all visitors except for essential visits only. These visits must be by arrangement with your Care Manager.

I will review these arrangements following an assessment of the risk over the course of the weekend, and provide you with an update on Monday.

I realise this may be disappointing for everyone but I remain focussed on ensuring the safety, health and wellbeing of all our residents as we continue to manage the challenges of the pandemic.

Our staff will continue to help you connect with your loved one via phone and video calls. If you need assistance please do not hesitate to call your Care Manager.

Resident outings

Essential outings for purposes such as for a medical appointment will be permitted. Exceptional cases may be considered with regard for the risk, and in consultation with the Care Manager.

Thank you for your patience and support at this difficult time.

If you have any questions please contact your Care Manager.

Yours sincerely

Nia Briguglio
