UPDATED 12:26PM 3/01/2020
IRT would like to advise that IRT Dalmeny Aged Care Centre and Retirement Village is currently evacuating under the direction of NSW Health and emergency services, due to Saturday’s extreme bushfire threat. Aged care centre residents are being evacuated via bus to either Estia Health Dalmeny or IRT Moruya. Retirement village residents are being taken by bus to evacuation centres in Narooma. We are currently attempting to contact the families of all our residents.
The emergency plan for all other IRT sites on the NSW South Coast – IRT Culburra Beach, St Georges Basin, Sarah Claydon (Milton), Crown Gardens (Batemans Bay), The Clyde (Batemans Bay) and Moruya – is to shelter in place, as recommended by NSW Health and emergency services.
In the event that any of our other sites are evacuated, we will let families know as soon as we can.
We would like to reassure family members that all residents living at our retirement villages and aged care centres on the NSW South Coast are currently safe, and have been well cared for in recent days.
We have activated our emergency plans and have ample supplies available. Site management teams are in regular contact with the RFS and emergency services and are following their directions.
We apologise that we have not been able to provide updated information sooner, due to interrupted phone and internet services.
IRT has a strong presence on the NSW South Coast and we are devastated by the terrible impact the bushfires have had on the coastal communities we serve. We thank all the RFS crews and emergency services personnel who have helped keep our residents safe. Sincere thanks also to our incredible staff who have supported our residents during this difficult and uncertain time.
We will provide further updates as soon as possible.
