Wi-fi and network upgrade at IRT Woodlands Aged Care Centre

Dear family member/resident representative,

I’m writing to let you know that we will be upgrading the Wi-Fi and network at your loved one’s aged care centre from 6pm on Friday 19 to 10pm on Sunday 21 May 2023.

The purpose of the upgrade is to improve the overall user experience for residents, family members, visitors and staff, and to ensure better Wi-Fi and network performance across the site.

What does it mean for your loved one?

Your loved one may notice some new faces around the care centre as members from our IT team carry out the upgrade. There will also be temporary phone, network and Wi-Fi outages while the work is taking place.  

Friday 19 May

There will be a site-wide outage overnight from 6pm on Friday 19 May until 6am on Saturday 20 May. During this time, the following services will be unavailable:

  • Site landline phones (including resident landline phones). Please note mobile phones will not be affected. If we need to make an emergency call, staff will use the RN mobile phone.
  • Internet access – Once the internet is reconnected, all devices should continue working as normal. Residents should not have to re-log in, enter passwords or do anything differently.
  • Email
  • Resident and visitor Wi-Fi access
  • Site computers, network and printers.

Saturday 20 May

From 6am on Saturday morning until later that evening, our IT team will work their way throughout the site to replace the existing wireless access points. There will be no site-wide outage on this day, but rather temporary outages in various areas across the care centre over the course of the day as the work takes place.

Sunday 21 May

We expect to get most of the wireless access points replaced on Saturday, however it is possible this work may continue from 6am on Sunday as well. Again, there will be no site-wide outage on this day, but rather temporary outages in various areas across the care centre. All work is expected to be complete by 10pm on Sunday night.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this upgrade may cause to you or your loved one and will do our best to ensure we minimise the disruption to residents where possible.
