Dr Max Diment, IRT’s pioneer, envisioned communities where seniors could enjoy the best quality of life. In 1969, Wollongong City Council donated land on Staff Street for IRT’s first community, the development of IRT Diment Towers was approved, and the company was officially incorporated later that year.
In 1971, IRT Diment Towers opened as Wollongong’s first high-rise community for seniors, offering both independent living for over 55s plus aged care services.
