IRT lodges plans for Milton Faire – a new seniors’ living community on the NSW South Coast

12 May 2026

As you may know, IRT has been progressing plans to develop the vacant block of land it owns at 276 Princes Highway, Milton.

We’re pleased to let you know we have now submitted our Development Application (DA) modification to Shoalhaven City Council for assessment. This is an exciting milestone for IRT and the local community, and a major step towards delivering a vibrant, modern and sustainable community for generations to come.

A new name for a new future
To reflect the evolution of our plans, the seniors’ living community will be known as Milton Faire.

Milton Faire is a thoughtfully masterplanned community that blends contemporary design with a strong focus on lifestyle, wellbeing and connection. It will be a place where older Australians can live independently, age with confidence, and stay connected to the people and places they love.

Our proposed seniors’ living community includes:

  • a modern 105-bed residential care home, purpose-built to support the needs of future residents
  • a retirement village offering a mix of 96 premium villas and 148 apartments for independent living
  • short-term and key worker accommodation to support employees, local health services and visiting families
  • lifestyle and wellbeing spaces, including a wellness centre, gym, hydrotherapy pool and sauna
  • a clubhouse, library, café, parks, gardens, and walkable streets and pathways that encourage community connection
  • social and community spaces around a central market square, including an ancillary convenience store/pharmacy.
  • green spaces, thoughtfully designed landscaping, and the retention and celebration of significant trees, including the two small-leaved Fig trees, two large turpentine trees (including Terry the Turpentine), as well as the subtropical rainforest area.

Next steps

IRT’s plans for Milton Faire be placed on Shoalhaven City Council’s web portal for public exhibition and submissions. Following this, the DA modification will move through the formal assessment process.

In the meantime, work will continue on the construction of the supporting roundabout on the Princes Highway in Milton.
