We make it easy for you to
understand the cost of home care

Navigating home care costs can feel overwhelming. We’re here to walk you through every step – clearly, honestly, and without jargon.

UNDERSTANDING YOUR COSTS

How does home care pricing work?

We know that understanding the cost of care- especially when the system has recently changed. can feel like a lot to take in. The good news is, most people are surprised by how affordable Government-funded care actually is.

01

Get assessed and approved

Reach out to My Aged Care to arrange a formal assessment. Based on your care needs, you’ll be approved for Support at Home (one of eight funding levels) or entry-level CHSP support. We’re happy to help you take this first step.

02

Understand what you'll contribute

Services Australia will look at your income and assets and let you know your personal contribution rate. Clinical services like nursing are always free. For other services, your contribution is a percentage of the cost – based on your pension status.

03

Build your care plan together

Your IRT care partner will sit down with you to create a personalised care plan and quarterly budget. You’re in control of how your support is shaped- and you only ever pay for the services you actually use.

FUNDING PROGRAMS

Which pathway is right for you?

There are three main ways to access home care in Australia. The Support at Home program replaced the previous Home Care Packages program on 1 November 2025. Your pathway shapes how much the government covers – and how much you contribute. Not sure where you fit? Our team is happy to help you work it out.
