Visiting and resident outing arrangements

Please be aware that restrictions may apply if the residential care home you are planning to visit is managing an outbreak of transmissible infection. If you’re not sure, before visiting please phone the residential care home to check.

Visiting arrangements

There is no limit to the number of visitors (of any age) that a resident can have at any one time but please try not to overcrowd the room.

It is not compulsory to wear a surgical mask inside the care home. Masks will still be available at the care home for those who wish to wear one, or if your loved one requests you wear one.

Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs) are also available at the entry of our care homes for those who wish to complete one before visiting.

All visitors must comply with the details below.

Before you visit:

  • Please consider annual flu vaccination for all visitors over the age of 6 months.
  • Please consider COVID-19 vaccination for you and anyone visiting with you, who is over the age of 5 years.
  • Please ensure you are well, and not experiencing symptoms of any potentially infectious illness.

When you arrive:

  • Please sign in at the dedicated entry point and complete the wellness questionnaire including temperature testing. Please be patient if you have to wait while others complete the wellness check ahead of you.
  • Follow instructions from staff and wear PPE if directed by the care home. This may include a surgical mask or a Particulate Filter Respirators (PFR) and face shield. All PPE is provided at the care home before entry.
  • Please wash your hands thoroughly before entering and leaving the residential care home.

Resident outings

Residents can leave the care home either by themselves or with a friend or relative for a range of reasons.

Before leaving the care home you can discuss with the Residential Manager or the rostered staff member in charge any risks associated with the proposed outing, and they may provide advice and input on how to stay safe while away from the care home.
