IRT provides summer construction update for proposed Milton seniors’ living community and supporting roundabout

Industry
16 December 2025

With the summer holidays approaching, IRT has provided an update on upcoming works and construction activity during the Christmas and early New Year period for its proposed seniors’ living community at 267 Princes Highway, Milton, and the supporting roundabout near Warden Road.

To minimise disruption for residents, local businesses and holiday traffic, no work will occur on either the main site or the roundabout site from Friday 19 December to Monday 5 January 2026. During this period, the 40 km/h speed limit through the construction zone on the Princes Highway will remain in place for safety.

Residents neighbouring both sites and key stakeholders have been notified and provided with contact details should they require assistance during the break.

Proposed seniors’ living community update

IRT will submit the revised masterplan for its proposed seniors’ living community to Shoalhaven City Council as part of its Development Application (DA) modification. Early site preparation works, including selective clearing under the existing DA, have concluded, with mulching to continue in early January. All significant trees on the site have been protected with fencing and buffer zones.

Roundabout construction update

Early works are nearing completion, with Stage 1 of construction to begin from early January. Works throughout 2026 will include retaining wall construction, service relocations, stormwater works, Service Lane access changes and road pavement construction. Landscaping and final works are scheduled from September/October 2026, weather and approvals permitting.

Moving forward, IRT and its contractors will lead community engagement for the proposed seniors’ living community and supporting roundabout. Brooks Community Engagement has completed its contracted work, and future enquiries can be directed to 134 478 or community@irt.org.au.

IRT CEO Ross Gallagher thanked neighbours, community representatives and stakeholders for their patience and cooperation as work progresses in Milton.

“We are committed to keeping the community informed as we progress both the roundabout and our proposed seniors’ living community in Milton. We appreciate the understanding shown by residents during this period of essential work,” Mr Gallagher said.
