Important information about IRT Berala on the Park Aged Care Centre

Dear family member/resident representative,

I am writing to let you know that a small number of residents have tested positive for RSV at your loved one’s aged care centre, and that the previous outbreak for COVID-19 is now resolved. We’re pleased to advise that all residents who had previously tested positive for COVID-19 have now reached their recovery criteria and are free of the virus.

The residents who have RSV live on Level 2 and are currently experiencing some mild symptoms. We are monitoring the residents closely in their rooms in consultation with their GPs.

In response to these RSV positive cases we have implemented our outbreak management plan, which includes a range of infection control protocols to minimise the risk of RSV spreading within the care centre.

We have also implemented a routine testing regime to ensure we detect any other RSV cases as soon as possible. If your loved one returns a positive RSV result, we will let you know by phone and continue to provide you with a daily update regarding their progress.

Visiting arrangements

If you visit your loved one during this outbreak period, the following arrangements apply:

• Visitors to Level 2 are required to wear a surgical mask and a face shield.
• Visitors to the Dementia Support Unit and Level 3 are required to wear a surgical mask.
