Dear family member/resident representative,
The purpose of this message is to provide you with an update as we manage the risk of parainfluenza virus at your loved one’s care centre, and to also share some information on a new mobile dental service at IRT Kangara Waters.
Since writing to you on Friday I am pleased to advise that the four residents who tested positive to parainfluenza virus last week are now deemed completely recovered. One further resident tested positive for the virus yesterday in the Wattle Dementia Specific Unit and is managing mild symptoms while being closely monitored by staff.
As parainfluenza is a respiratory virus that can spread via airborne particles, all staff are now required to wear surgical masks. Visitors must also wear surgical masks within the care centre, however you may remove your mask in your loved one’s room as per the resident’s preference.
We also encourage visitors and residents to practice good hand hygiene to reduce the risk of virus infection including regularly washing hands with soap and water and using hand sanitiser available in communal areas.
I’m pleased to let you know that we’ve partnered with Bright Smiles Professional to enhance your loved one’s access to oral health care.
Bright Smiles Professional is a mobile service run by dental hygienist Brenda Fry. Brenda conducts appointments in the comfort of your loved one’s room and offers a range of services, including:
As this is a private service, fees do apply and more information can be found via the Bright Smiles Professional information sheet here.
If you are interested in this service for your loved one, would like to book an appointment, or have any questions, please contact Brenda directly on 0408 000 702 or at brightsmilespro@gmail.com.
Please pass this message on to others as you consider appropriate and if you have any questions, please contact me.
Thank you for your continued support.
Yours sincerely
Iva Vujica
